Meet Security’s Editorial Advisory Board

Dean C. Alexander, J.D., LL.M. is Director of Homeland Security Research Program and Professor, Homeland Security at the School of Law Enforcement and Justice Administration, Western Illinois University. Alexander has lectured on terrorism in the U.S. and abroad, including at the National Intelligence University, Illinois Statewide Terrorism and Intelligence Center, Oregon Fusion Center, Milwaukee Police Department, Michigan State Police, and McAllen Police Department, among others. He has published several books on terrorism on topics such as ISIS, family terror networks, and terrorism and business. He has been interviewed by domestic and international media, such as the Washington Post, CNN, and NHK, on a variety of terrorism subjects.

Steven Antoine is Chief Security Officer for Yum! Brands, Inc., a global restaurant company with over 50,000 KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and The Habit Burger Grill restaurants and more than 1.5 million employees in more than 150 countries and territories. Antoine is responsible for leading Yum! Brands’ life safety, duty of care, executive protection, employee travel and physical security strategies globally; and for helping to educate, advise and support franchisee owners and operators to improve their capabilities in this space in an everchanging marketplace. He works with the Company’s businesses around the globe to leverage a culture of trust and safety to strengthen resilience, reduce risk and expand business, franchise and supplier opportunities.

Guy M. Grace is the Chairman of the Advisory Committee for Partner Alliance for Safer Schools and Strategic Safety and Security advisor for the Innovative Institute for Fan Experience. He served for more than three decades as the Director of Security and Emergency planning for Littleton Public Schools, a suburb of Denver, Colo., before retiring in August 2020. He is the recipient of many awards and recognitions including: 2020 Campus Safety Director of the Year for his work at Littleton Public Schools, the Association of School Business Officials International Pinnacle award, American Red Cross Century of Heroes award, the Security Industry Association (SIA)Insightful Practitioner Award, the NSCA Volunteer of the Year Award and the NCS4 Professional of the Year Award.

Jeffrey D. Hauk, MSA, CPP, PEM, CAS, CPTED, SHRM-CP, is the Director, Public Safety and Police Authority Services at Memorial Healthcare, Owosso, Mich., where he is responsible for providing leadership, strategic planning and administrative direction for all protective-related functions. Hauk has been involved in corporate security and public safety for more than 20 years. Prior to Memorial Healthcare, Hauk served as the Chief Security Officer for the El Paso Water Utilities, as well as Director, Risk Management and Global Protective Services for Emergent BioSolutions, a multinational biopharmaceutical company in Maryland. Hauk is a graduate of Central Michigan University (BS 1994 and MSA 2016) and R.L. Oatman and Associates (2007) executive protection academy, where he was designated as Executive Protection Specialist.

Karl Perman is a management consultant specializing in risk management, cybersecurity, physical security and regulatory compliance across critical infrastructures. Over the course of his career, Perman has developed and implemented compliance programs to meet Federal, State and Local regulations. He is a former law enforcement officer and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Perman’s professional affiliations and appointments include Vice Chair of the ASIS International Investigations Community, Member of the Board of Directors of the National Electric Sector Cybersecurity Organization, Member of InfraGard, and Member of the NERC Compliance Input Working Group. He is a published author of four books related to critical infrastructure protection and numerous articles pertaining to security and management. In 2011, Security selected Karl as one of the Most Influential People in Security.

Kirsten Provence, L.C.B., is Senior Manager, Supply Chain Security & Organizational Executive Strategy & Business Operations for The Boeing Company’s Security & Fire Protection (S&FP) organization. Provence leads the team responsible for maintaining the security of Boeing’s global supply chains and ensuring compliance with global supply chain security requirements. She also leads the S&FP Program Execution team which ensures the deployment of standardized services across the enterprise. Provence is the Executive Strategy Leader for the S&FP organization and leads the development and delivery of the strategic direction. She has a degree in Political Science and an MBA in Business Administration, Global Management. She serves on the Governance Board of the SCRLC and Chairs the OSAC Women in Security Benchmarking Subcommittee.

Kristine Raad is the Director of Global Security for Owens Corning, a global leader in insulation, roofing and fiberglass composite materials. Raad is responsible for developing and implementing Owens Corning’s enterprise security strategy, and has been a change leader in the transformation of security operations across the organization. Raad previously worked in a variety of roles during her more than 20 years’ experience with General Motors. During her tenure, Kristine was responsible for North American Regional Security including oversight of security at over 75 manufacturing and office sites throughout Canada, Mexico and the United States. She led the company’s global security intelligence center, travel security, whistleblower hotline and global reporting programs.

Jim Sawyer, CPP, CHPA, is Director of Security Services for Seattle Children’s Hospital – a position that he has held since 1975. He is a crime prevention instructor and has received much recognition for his efforts, including being recognized by the Washington State Crime Prevention Association as Non-Law Enforcement Program of the Year; receiving the President’s Award for Crime Prevention Education; and Crime Prevention Practitioner of the Year. At Seattle Children’s Sawyer plans, implements and evaluates the overall strategy and related plans to ensure a safe and secure environment for patients, families, visitors and employees with an emphasis on prevention. In addition to his other merits, he holds an NCPS (National Crime Prevention Specialist) certification.
