The FBI announced the official launch of the Law Enforcement Suicide Data Collection (LESDC), which provides a mechanism for law enforcement agencies to report suicides and attempted suicides of law enforcement personnel.

U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin’s bipartisan reform to designate a three-digit phone number for a national suicide prevention and mental health crisis hotline has passed the full Senate. 

The Federal Communications Commission has proposed the three-digit number 988 for the National Suicide Prevention Hotline.

The suicide rate among the US working age population increased 34 percent during 2000-2016, according to the CDC.
