Following several investigations, the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) has cited Dollar General for workplace safety violations.

Nine Dollar Tree locations in four states have received workplace safety violations from OSHA. Hazards include blocked exits and chemical exposure.

A Rhode Island Dollar Tree was cited by OSHA for workplace hazards including obstructed exits, unsafe storage of materials and fire hazards.

A Jersey Shore Dollar Tree was cited by OSHA for blocked exits and electrical panels. This is one of many citations against the retail chain.

Dollar General was cited for blocked fire exits and extinguishers. Dollar General Corp. is included in OSHA's Severe Violator Enforcement Program.

OSHA has cited Dollar Tree for blocking exit routes with a dumpster, wheeled carts and a moveable conveyer belt exposing employees to fire hazards.

Seven security organizations, including ASIS International and the National Association of State Fire Marshals, have sent a letter to Virginia legislature concerning conflicts of interest in a study group focusing on the use of active shooter prevention hardware in public buildings.
