Richard “Rich” E. Widup, Jr., CPP, has advanced to the presidency of ASIS International. He is the 59th president of ASIS, and he currently serves as senior director, corporate security for Purdue Pharma, LP. Mr. Widup joined ASIS in 2000 and the ASIS CSO Roundtable, an exclusive forum for senior security professionals, in 2008.
Cyber security is on the forefront of current ASIS president Eduard Emde's to-do list, and 2013 president Geoff Craighead plans to continue Emde's international efforts, as well as the industry's standard and certification requirements.
This month, Eduard Emde, CPP takes the reins as president of ASIS International President. He’s the first non-U.S. president of the organization and a consultant for BMKISS Europe, in Wassenaar, The Netherlands. “I am convinced that 2012 will continue to be dominated by all facets of cyber-related security risks,” Emde tells Security magazine.
