A school system in northern Georgia is considering a proposal that would allow district police to store rifles in school offices in case they’re needed to defend students in a school shooting, Fox News reports.

Locking all exterior doors, even excepting the main entrance, is a bad move from a first responder standpoint, says the Vancouver report.

The Act is now awaiting a signature from Gov. Perry before teachers with their CHL can receive active shooter response training, including marksmanship under duress.

Limits on magazine sizes and mandatory background checks are the key pillars of today's legislation, signed by Governor John Hickenlooper.

Most active shooters in the past decade acted alone, the report notes, and 51 percent were deceased following the attack. 

Three are dead, including the gunman, after he opened fire in a suburban Portland, Ore., shopping mall on Tuesday, December 11.

At least one is dead and one wounded after a shooting at Casper College, a community college in Wyoming's second-largest city.
