Appoquinimink School District in Delaware is updating its security measures. The school district is partnering with Evolv Technology to use artificial intelligence (AI) weapons detection to the three high schools in the districts.
With school shootings and other violent events, school districts have implemented a variety of security measures. AI weapons detection allows a school to scan for weapons and hazards without passing every student, staff and guest through a metal detection.
Appoquinimink joins a growing list of school districts to increase weapons detection. According to a report, half of the households with children have considered homeschooling their kids out of fear of gun violence. Seventy-five percent of parent respondents indicated that their child(ren) has anxiety about school shootings.
