To combat challenges brought on by severe weather, an Iowa laundromat is converting to a cloud-based video surveillance system. On occasion, harsh weather prevented owners and employees from checking on the store until the weather had past, with no way to know if company or client possessions had been damaged.
The laundromat owners wanted to check on their location remotely to help them determine if the laundromat needed any attention such as cleaning, snow removal or general maintenance. The laundromat is utilizing VIVOTEK's cloud-based Video Surveillance as a Service (VSaaS).
The service is meant to record and store data without requiring a centralized system. Video data will be stored and analyzed via edge computing directly within the camera and backup in the cloud.
The systems send out notifications if an event occurs so the owners can observe events remotely. Five cameras were installed on the interior and exterior of the laundromat.
