Security veteran George Anderson has joined Sentinel Consulting as Senior Advisor. Drawing upon his career in law enforcement and security management, Anderson will help Sentinel clients in addressing their security challenges.

Throughout his accomplished career, he has balanced the management of people, processes, and technology to maximum effect. During 30 years with the New York Police Department (NYPD), Anderson rose to the rank of Assistant Chief and served in a variety of assignments, including Personnel, commander of the Police Academy and in the Patrol Services Bureau.

He then transitioned to the private sector, serving as Allied Barton Security Service’s Vice President for Operations, managing the company’s multi-million-dollar portfolio of guard service business in Manhattan and the Hudson Valley. There, he supported clients in every business category, including, but not limited to, healthcare, commercial real estate, museums, aviation, and cultural institutions.

In 2016, he assumed the role of Director of Security for the Port Authority of N.Y. and N.J. at the World Trade Center site in Manhattan, where his team relied on a tremendous depth and breadth of security technologies.

Anderson has served as chair of the Private Sector Liaison Section of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), advocating for the value of public/private partnerships, and is past Chair of the NYC Chapter of ASIS. In 2015, he was presented with the Eugene Casey Award by the NYC Chapter, and in 2019, he received the Insightful Practitioner Award from the Security Industry Association.

Anderson earned an M.A. in Criminal Justice from SUNY Albany and graduated from the International Security Management Association Leadership Program at Georgetown University. He has shared his passion for policing and security management with the next generation of security leaders as an Adjunct Professor at John Jay College, Department of Law and Police Science, and Marist College.
