Baroness Angela Harris has joined the Advisory Board of the International Foundation for Protection Officers (IFPO) U.K. and Ireland.
Harris brings years of experience in government, law enforcement and the justice system to the IFPO Advisory Board. Harris has held government roles including Town Councillor, District Councillor and County Councillor in North Yorkshire, England.
She joined the Police Authority of the North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC) in 1981 and in 1994 became Chair and Deputy Chair of the Association of Police Authorities. She was a Magistrate for 16 years and chaired an Advisory Board.
Harris became a member of the U.K. House of Lords in 1999 taking on the policing brief for her party. She was also a front-bench spokesperson on Northern Ireland, concentrating on policing issues.
She is President of the Police Treatment Centres, High Steward of Ripon Cathedral, Companion of the Royal Air Force (RAF) Regiment SODC and member of the RAF Regiment Association, and is a patron of a number of other charities.
