Security budgets are expected to rise this year, according to top cyber executives across the United States.
A survey from Forgepoint Capital polled 102 security and technology executives to determine C-suite cybersecurity priorities for the rest of 2022.
Three-quarters of respondents expect security budgets to increase in 2022. According to the report, security leaders are focusing on a combination of traditional and new security controls, including securing cloud infrastructure and application programming interfaces (APIs) (62%), DevSecOps (54%), identity management (41%) and data management (40%).
Security priorities shift depending on the size of the leader's organization. At enterprises with over 1,000 employees, cloud transformation and incident response were named top priorities. Leaders at mid-sized organizations (50-1,000 employees) prioritized supply chain security and security hygiene, and small business security leaders (less than 50 employees) prioritized social engineering awareness and talent development.
