Jonathan Kassa has joined the consulting practice Margolis Healy as Vice President for Regulatory Compliance.

Kassa brings extensive leadership experience in community-oriented campus safety and security, Clery Act compliance, public service, and policy development to his role with Margolis Healy. He has led innovative national initiatives to increase community safety and victim advocacy over a career spanning 29 years. 

Kassa most recently served as a senior adviser for several firms specializing in policing, public safety, and national security, focusing on clients across the K-12, higher education, and technology solutions sectors.

He co-founded a national firm dedicated to increased equity in education while leveraging innovative technology to transform efficiencies in institution-wide risk management, including Clery Act compliance.

Additionally, Kassa previously served as the director of higher education at the nation’s largest contract security services provider, serving campus leadership as a trusted adviser by facilitating strategy, program assessment, and training development. 

A former executive director of the Clery Center, a national nonprofit organization engaged in higher education campus safety advocacy, education, and public policy, Kassa was entered as a “valuable leader in campus safety” in the 2008 Congressional Record.

He participated in the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), negotiated rulemaking sessions for emergency notification, campus fire safety, missing students, and hate/bias crime reporting amendments; and later guided the development of the Campus SaVE Act that was adopted into the Violence Against Women Act.
