Social media sites have been named the top website type to be targeted by a cyberattack, according to a survey of 1,000 U.S. citizens.
The survey, conducted by Censuswide on behalf of ProtonVPN, found that the personal information of 25.8% of respondents had been included in a data breach at least once. Of those breached participants, the survey asked respondents to list which types of websites had led to the comprise of their personal data.

- Technology (21%)
- E-commerce (19%)
- Lifestyle (18%)
Email addresses were the most likely data point to be shared in a breach (57%), followed by passwords (38%) and usernames (33%).
