Tigran Gambaryan and Matthew Price, both former special agents for the Internal Revenue Service — Criminal Investigations (IRS-CI) Cyber Crimes Unit, have joined cryptocurrency organization Binance in investigative roles.
Tigran Gambaryan has been named the Vice President of Global Intelligence and Investigations. Gambaryan will work closely with the firm's Chief Security Officer as they lead the audit and investigations team, collaborating with law enforcement to secure internal and external cryptocurrency operations and prevent loss.
Gambaryan brings over 10 years of experience from his special agent role at the IRS-CI, where he led cyber investigations into events such as the BTC-e bitcoin exchange, the Silk Road corruption investigations and the Mt. Gox hack.
Matthew Price joins the organization as Senior Director of Investigations. Price's role focuses on identifying and mitigating cyber threats on the Binance platform and preventing cybercrime attempts both on the site and in the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
Price's over 15 years of experience in law enforcement and intelligence encompasses counterterrorism and international cybersecurity. Price led the investigation into Helix, an illegal bitcoin tumbling service, where he blended a combination of blockchain analysis and traditional investigative techniques to apprehend the illicit organization.
