The Delaware Department of Technology & Information has introduced an educational cybersecurity program for senior citizens. The state, which named October "Cyber Security Awareness Month," reported over 2,000 victims of cybercrime in 2020.
The cybersecurity programming will cover the benefits of multi-factor authentication, identifying spam calls and protecting social media and email accounts.
According to the FBI 2020 Internet Crime report, people over the age of 60 reported being victims of cybercrime more than any other age group, with losses totaling over $965 million in 2020 nationwide.
The state's Cyber Security Awareness Month programming will also provide information on detecting phishing attempts and careers in cybersecurity.
