The 2021 Insider Threat Virtual Conference, hosted jointly by the Defense Counterintelligence Security Agency and the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security, will bring together security professionals and policymakers across the U.S. government and industry to kick off the National Insider Threat Awareness Month (NITAM) campaign. The theme for this year's conference and campaign is Cultural Awareness and Insider Threat.
Participating in Insider Threat Awareness Month 2021 can help your program detect, deter and mitigate insider threats by increasing awareness and promoting reporting. Insider threat awareness is not about curtailing protected free speech or suppressing legitimate whistleblowing; it is about preventing the exploitation of authorized access from causing harm to an organization or its resources. Incidents must be contained to safeguard national security while protecting privacy and civil liberties.
The 2021 Insider Threat Virtual Conference features senior-level speakers and panelists who will present on the current state of DoD, federal, and industry insider threat programs; the importance of cultural awareness in combating the insider threat; strategies for developing positive organizational culture and sub-culture; and resources for training and professionalization of the insider threat practitioner community.
Up to 3,000 Insider Threat practitioners and counterintelligence and security professionals from the Department of Defense, Federal Agencies, private industry, critical infrastructure sectors and academia will be in attendance. Please join and be part of the conversation.
The virtual conference will take place Thursday, September 2, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. and will wrap by at 3:00 p.m. Eastern.
