March 1st through March 5th, 2021 is Severe Weather Preparedness week in the states of Missouri and Illinois. As part of this week, the states have planned their annual Statewide Tornado Drills on March 2.

"While everyone is encouraged to participate by reviewing your severe weather plans at the time of the drill, if the date and time does not work for you, you are encouraged to conduct the drill at a time that works for you," the National Weather Services states.

Throughout the week, the National Weather Service, Missouri and Illinois emergency management agencies will disseminate information on receiving important weather updates along with details on tornado, lightning, wind, flood safety, and staying safe during a natural disaster.
