Pennsylvania State Rep. Kristine Howard announced that $362,025 in Safe Schools grants were awarded to local schools. The grants will go toward the purchase of safety and security-related equipment. Some schools received funding for school resource officers as well.

“It is more critical than ever before that our students have a safe learning environment in which to learn and grow,” Howard said. “The Safe Schools grants will ensure our students are able to learn in a productive and safe environment.”

The Pennsylvania Department of Education awards competitive Safe Schools grants to reduce unnecessary student disciplinary actions and promote an environment of greater productivity, safety, and learning; and enhance anti-violence efforts between schools and parents, local governments, law enforcement and community organizations.
