Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Chairman Neil Chatterjee announced the selection of Mittal Desai to serve as the Commission’s Chief Information Officer, effective June 7, 2020. Desai currently is a Senior Advisor and Risk Analyst in FERC’s Office of the Executive Director.
“I am very pleased to announce Mittal’s selection as the Commission’s new CIO,” Chairman Chatterjee said. “He is a seasoned IT leader who has served the Commission very well in his current position and during his earlier career here as Deputy Chief Information Security Officer and Chief Information Security Officer. Especially now, IT is an essential element to the Commission being able to complete its mission, so we need Mittal and his strong leadership in this job. I appreciate his willingness to take on this important new role.”
Desai previously worked as Deputy Chief Information Security Officer at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, where he provided executive responsibility for the development, implementation and maintenance of its information security systems, processes and policies required to protect the enterprise network. Desai graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in business information technology from Virginia Tech and is the recipient of the 2017 Federal Computer Week Federal 100 and Rising Star award.
