New data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports there have been 2,500 cases of vaping-related lung injury cases nationwide.
Vaping injuries have been reported in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. There have been 54 confirmed deaths in the District of Columbia and 27 states: Alabama, California, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Virginia.
The median age of deceased patients was 52 years and they ranged from 17 to 75.
