Las Vegas McCarran International Airport is set to install a facial recognition biometric solution at all international gates.
Passengers using the technology are not required to pre-register, according to a news report. Travelers only need to scan their face to validate their identity against the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Traveler Verification Service and then, they can proceed to board through the auto boarding gate, says the report. Additionally, the solution only takes about a second to recognize the passenger's face.
According to the report, the solution is already live with one airline following a trial throughout the summer. When the installation is complete, a total of 19 airlines will offer the facial recognition technology.
