Florida citizens are in favor of universal background checks on gun sales, according to the St. Pete Polls survey.
When asked if respondents would support a state Constitutional Amendment that would require universal background checks on all sales of firearms in Florida:
- 76.8 percent said yes.
- 17.1 percent said no.
- 6.1 percent were unsure.
Eighty-seven percent of Democrats said they would support universal background checks and less than nine percent were against it. Sixty percent of Republicans said they would approve of the checks, while 27 percent claimed they would not. Seventy-eight percent of independent voters said they would support background checks, with 15 percent claiming they would oppose them.
