School security funding for better locks was approved by the Teton County School District (TCSD) No.1 Board of Trustees, according to the agreement published by the Board of Trustees website. 

Radio frequency identification, or RFID, access control systems will be installed at all schools in the district. The agreement specifies this measure is to control and limit access to its schools and other buildings to insure the health, safety and welfare of its students and staff. 

The contract also holda the contractor responsible for the following: 

Following installation and activation of the access system, the Contractor will provide training materials and assistance reasonably necessary to assist TCSD with the transition and assumption of control and operation of the RFID by providing: 

  • Manuals 
  • "As built" access system diagrams or plans 
  • Maintenance or equipment inventories
  • Maintenance schedules
  • Staff training 
  • All other materials and information necessary for successful operations of the RFIDs

The locks will need a staff ID to open and the contract includes the purchase and installation of door positioning indicators that sound an alarm if a door is left ajar.
