The Canaveral Port Authority is set to upgrade security operations and cybersecurity systems following $1.149 million in federal and state grants from DHS and the Florida Seaport Transportation and Economic Development program, according to a Port press release.
According to Captain John Murray, Port CEO: “Security is a top priority at Port Canaveral, and these grants help support our mission to ensure the safety and security of our Port.”
He adds: “The funds will allow us to employ new resources coupled with the latest technologies to enhance our security measures.”
The grants will be used to upgrade and enhance security detection equipment at the port and to generally increase port security and protect vital transportation hubs and maritime borders.
