Ohio State University's board of trustees approved a resolution that would allow some off-duty officers to carry concealed weapons on campus.
These would be full-time officers who are within their jurisdiction, and would include employees with the The Ohio State University Police Division, the City of Columbus Division of Police, Franklin County Sheriff's Office or the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The resolution applies to officers that, in case of an emergency situation, are likely to be first responders, reported Cleveland.com.
The officers would be able to carry a firearm into buildings, events and venues, as long as they follow appropriate protocols and check-in procedures set by the university.
