The Ohio State University has named Monica Moll its new Department of Public Safety Director.

Moll brings more than 20 years of law enforcement experience to Ohio State, most recently serving as the director of public safety and chief of police at Bowling Green State University (BGSU).

Moll becomes the ninth director of public safety at Ohio State and the second female to hold the position.

Prior to joining BGSU in 2010, Moll worked at Kent State University, where she started as a police patrol officer in 1996 and worked her way up the ranks to lieutenant. Moll received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Akron and her master’s degree from Kent State. In May 2016, she completed a Doctor of Philosophy in Political Science at Kent State, which included a dissertation on police ethics training.

Moll takes over following the retirement of former director Vernon Baisden, who retired from the university in April 2016 after 15 years of service.
