Security is being beefed up for Pasadena's Tournament of Roses next week despite promises of a peaceful protest by Occupy activists.

According to an AP report, the Occupy protesters say there is too much corporate money involved in the Jan. 2 parade.

Occupy the Rose Parade spokesman Pete Thottam says activists have spent more than 20 hours meeting with the Pasadena Police Department and Rose Parade staff, the report says.

The group plans a series of "floats" at the end of the parade, including a giant octopus made of recycled bags and a blow up of the Constitution.

The Los Angeles Times says there will be more local, state and federal law enforcement officers on hand Monday.
