University of Iowa officials want to upgrade the stadium security cameras system at Kinnick Stadium and are looking for funding from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, says an AP report.
Director of Public Safety Chuck Green says more stadium spots ought to be monitored when the massive crowds flock to Kinnick on game days. The university has been using video monitors inside the stadium since 2006.
Green also says that cameras able to pan, tilt and zoom would be improvements over the still cameras in place now.
He says the parking lots would not be given video monitors, the report says.
Green says that if federal money is secured, new cameras would be installed before next football season starts.
