A college administrator, described as a dean, was stabbed at the Metropolitan Community College's Penn Valley campus this morning.

According to an MSNBC report, a man in his 20s walked up to a man in his 40s and slashed his throat about 9:30 a.m. in the Humanities Building. The victim's injuries are described as serious. Witnesses told police the attack happened without provocation.

Witnesses tackled the suspect and held him until police arrived and police reportedly have the man in custody. Witnesses told police that the attacker appeared to be under the influence of drugs.

The report cited KMBZ Radio's Eric Bushman saying that when the man walked into the room, several people saw he had a weapon and said, "Call the police." The man mumbled something to two men near the podium and then bolted from the room. The stabbing happened a few moments later.
