A 17-year-old Philadelphia Phillies fan who ran onto the field during a Phillies-Cardinal game was brought down by a Taser from a security officer.
"This is the first time that a Taser gun has been used by Philadelphia police to apprehend a field jumper," Phillies spokeswoman Bonnie Clark said in a statement. "The Police Department is investigating this matter and The Phillies are discussing with them whether in future situations this is an appropriate use of force under these circumstances. That decision will be made public."
In addition, Philadelphia police Lt. Frank Vanore said the department will examine if this was "proper use of the equipment," meaning the Taser.
The Phillies' Clark said the suspect was 17 years old and would be charged with criminal trespass.
