From International Fiber Systems Incorporated, the Orion fiber optic communication system is a 896 input or 102 output virtual matrix switch for video, audio and data communications. The system uses MPEG-2 to encode and decode the video and high-quality fiber optic transceivers to set a new standard for video quality in applications where large numbers of CCTV cameras need active monitoring. Each video input and output module provides full support for high-quality audio, bi-directional data and two contact-closures that can be used for voice, PTZ control and alarm signal inputs.
