Michael R. Centrella named Assistant Director of the USSS Office of Field Operations

Director Sean Curran of the United States Secret Service (USSS) has announced the promotion of a new Assistant Director of the USSS Office of Field Operations, Michael R. Centrella.
Prior to this role, Centrella served as Deputy Assistant Director of the Office of Field Operations; Special Agent in Charge of the Philadelphia Field Office; Deputy Special Agent in Charge of the Philadelphia Field Office; Special Agent in Charge of the Office of the Chief Financial Officer; Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Inspection Division; Supervisor of Internal Policy Matters in the Inspection Division; Supervisor of the Protective Intelligence Squad in the Washington Field Office; and National Special Security Events Coordinator in the Dignitary Protective Division.
In his new position, Centrella will be responsible for the largest organizational unit in the USSS. This unit is comprised of more than 3,000 Special Agents as well as employees involved in administrative, analytical, technical, and professional roles across 173 domestic and international offices.
A key part of Centrella’s role is to oversee an investigative team protecting U.S. financial infrastructure from various threats, such as organized crime and cyberattacks. Additionally, this team will provide intelligence to support the agency’s mission to protect the President, Vice President, their families, and other leaders in the nation.
