A survey from Action1 reveals the impacts cyberattacks can have on education. 250 education institution IT workers were surveyed across the United States and the United Kingdom, highlighting key concerns and assessments about school cybersecurity. With 64% expressing concerns that ransomware threats may impact the quality of education, it is evident that cyber threats influence more than just a school’s cybersecurity posture.
IT leaders in education report a lack of support from school boards, with 20% saying current levels of support are insufficient. Furthermore, 78% of schools did not have a cybersecurity specialist, and 44% of schools devoted less than 10% of IT budgets to cybersecurity efforts. 71% of IT workers report their school’s cybersecurity preparedness as moderate or slight, and 27% of schools did not conduct regular vulnerability assessments.
