A survey by Abrigo reveals that 90% of Americans are worried about an increase in fraud. Among worried Americans, 51% are extremely concerned and 39% are somewhat concerned.
45% of surveyed individuals report being a victim of financial fraud. The top forms of fraud reported include:
- Credit card theft (53%)
- Electronic payment fraud (19%)
- Check fraud (17%)
Respondents expressed concern about internet scams, identity theft and money laundering. 71% reported being worried about money laundering, with 45% being somewhat concerned and 26% being extremely concerned.
Additionally, Americans are concerned about the impact AI may have on fraud. 68% are concerned about fraud efforts increasing due to advancing AI technology, and 74% believe that AI technology will increase the success of fraud attempts.
