Thursday, July 18, users worldwide experienced a technology outage affecting flights, banks, hospitals and more. Microsoft 365 released a short statement on X stating that they're working on the issue and to check their page for live updates.
On Friday, July 19, Microsoft announced that the outages was linked to a Crowdstrike update. Several corporate and government offices announced on Friday morning that their systems were affected by the outage, leading to delays and closures. As of 12 pm EST on Monday, over East Coast 1,000 flights have been canceled and even more have been delayed. Maryland courts and offices will be closed to the public on the 19th.
Crowdstrike has stated that there is currently no evidence of a cyberattack or security incident.
