As National Basketball Association (NBA) Senior Vice President, Chief Security Officer, Leon Newsome oversees all aspects of security operations for the NBA, WNBA, NBA G League, NBA 2K League and Basketball Africa League as well as the NBA’s 15 offices worldwide.
Newsome joined the NBA in March 2021 after serving 28 years with the U.S. Secret Service, including the last two as Deputy Director. In that role, he led the daily investigative and protective operations of an agency with more than 7,000 employees globally.
A Baltimore native, Newsome earned a Bachelor’s degree in history from Princeton University. He also graduated from the Key Executive Leadership Program at American University.
