Michigan school district adopts new gun detection technology

March 20, 2024

A Michigan school district has employed ZeroEyes gun detection technology to mitigate risks gun violence on campus grounds. This gun detection technology utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) to detect the presence of guns.

The technology’s software possesses situational awareness intelligence which is layered onto an existing digital camera. If the AI detects a gun, an image of the object detected is sent to the operation center for verification. Once verified, proper authorities are notified. All of this can occur within 5 seconds of detection.

The school district, Pontiac School District, has adopted this technology to defend students, teachers and faculty from gun threats. The school district’s adoption of this technology is part of a multi-layered crisis response plan, which includes mandatory visitor check-in, smart sensors and a video management software.
